TikTok Shop Is Becoming One of Beauty's Largest Retail Channels
New data from Charm.io, published by Playbook of Beauty, shows TikTok Shop generated $662.2 million in U.S. beauty sales during the second quarter of 2026 across four core categories: skincare, makeup, fragrance, and haircare.
Skincare remained the platform's largest category, representing 36% of sales, followed by makeup (28%), fragrance (19%), and haircare (17%). While haircare represented the smallest share of GMV, it posted the fastest growth, increasing 118% year over year, making it one of the biggest breakout categories on the platform.
Additional reporting from Beauty Independent highlights just how quickly TikTok Shop has matured. Using a broader definition of beauty that includes additional categories, the publication estimates TikTok Shop generated nearly $1 billion in beauty GMV during Q2 2026, roughly one-third of Ulta Beauty's quarterly sales despite operating without a physical retail footprint.
The data reinforces that TikTok Shop is no longer simply a discovery platform. It has become a major ecommerce destination capable of driving meaningful beauty sales at scale.
The Biggest Winners Are Brands That Treat TikTok Shop Like Retail

One of the clearest themes emerging from the data is that sustained execution is outperforming novelty.
Tarte led the makeup category despite competing against many TikTok-native brands. Rather than relying on occasional viral moments, the brand built a large affiliate network, maintained regular livestreams, and consistently invested in creator partnerships. MAC also entered the platform aggressively, while e.l.f. continued posting triple-digit growth.
K-beauty maintained its dominance in skincare, with Medicube and Dr. Melaxin accounting for nearly one-quarter of category sales. Medicube also appeared among the fastest-growing haircare brands following the expansion of its product portfolio beyond skincare.
The report also found that nearly every top-ten haircare seller more than doubled year-over-year sales, highlighting growing consumer demand for hair-focused products alongside skincare.
For beauty brands considering expansion beyond Amazon, TikTok Shop increasingly looks less like an experimental marketing channel and more like a legitimate revenue driver. beBOLD Digital's Take
The biggest takeaway isn't that TikTok Shop is growing. It's how brands are winning there.
The strongest performers are combining creator partnerships, affiliate marketing, livestream commerce, and consistent operational execution rather than chasing one-off viral videos. At the same time, K-beauty's continued leadership shows that product differentiation and strong consumer demand still matter more than simply publishing more content.
For established beauty brands, TikTok Shop should increasingly be viewed as another core ecommerce channel alongside Amazon, not simply a social platform.
