Is TikTok Shop Plus the Next Amazon Prime? What Sellers Need to Know

TikTok is testing Shop Plus, a Prime-style paid membership. Discover how new perks like free shipping aim to steal Amazon's repeat buyers.

TikTok Shop Plus Turns Product Discovery Into a Loyalty Play

TikTok is reportedly testing a paid shopping membership designed to compete more directly with Amazon Prime.

The program, called TikTok Shop Plus, is being shown to some US shoppers at monthly prices of $6, $10, or $15, according to Business Insider. Reported benefits include free shipping, member discounts, and exclusive coupons.

In one example, a hair product priced at approximately $57 was reduced to $47 for members and included free three-day shipping. Another beauty product priced near $50 came with a $5 member discount.

The different prices suggest TikTok is still testing what shoppers will pay and which benefits drive enrollment. TikTok has not announced a full rollout, and it remains unclear which products or customers qualify.

The Seller Shift: Compete for the Repeat Order, Not Just the Viral Sale

A shopper may currently find a product on TikTok, compare it on Amazon, and complete the purchase there because of Prime shipping or an existing Amazon account. A TikTok membership offering comparable delivery and pricing benefits gives shoppers another reason to stay inside the app.

This makes Shop Plus more than a shipping promotion. It is a retention strategy.

TikTok has also introduced product subscriptions for select US sellers in categories including beauty, health, personal care, food and beverages, home supplies, and pet supplies. Eligible sellers can offer discounts of 5% to 20% on recurring purchases. Together, product subscriptions and Shop Plus indicate that TikTok wants to capture repeat demand, not only impulse purchases.

For brands deciding how the platforms should fit within their channel mix, beBOLD’s TikTok Shop vs. Amazon comparison provides a closer look at their different strengths.

Faster Delivery Will Raise the Operational Bar

Public reporting has not established whether TikTok, sellers, or both will fund the reported discounts and shipping benefits.

Established brands should therefore evaluate the program at the SKU level. Higher conversion or repeat-order rates may not create profitable growth if they require deeper discounts, additional shipping costs, or inventory commitments that compress contribution margin.

TikTok has already been building more Amazon-like infrastructure. Sellers can import listings from Amazon or Shopify URLs, while TikTok has expanded platform-managed fulfillment and faster delivery options. However, Amazon remains far larger. EMARKETER forecasts put TikTok Shop’s 2026 US sales above $23 billion, compared with more than $500 billion for Amazon.

Shop Plus narrows part of the customer-experience gap. It does not remove the need for strong fulfillment, consistent content, and disciplined profitability tracking.

beBOLD Digital’s Take

Shop Plus is another sign that marketplace competition is moving beyond customer acquisition. Platforms increasingly want to control discovery, checkout, delivery, and the repeat purchase.

Amazon sellers should not treat TikTok Shop as an automatic replacement for Amazon. The stronger move is to identify products suited to creator-led discovery, test them with separate channel economics, and measure whether TikTok can deliver profitable repeat demand.
