Brand Battle: Medicube vs. Dr.Melaxin on TikTok Shop: How Medicube Flipped the Lead

beBOLD® Digital's weekly marketplace deep-dive, powered by beBOLD® Social Intelligence.

The Setup

Medicube and Dr.Melaxin are the two largest skincare brands on TikTok Shop in the US. Both are Korean "home aesthetic" brands with catalogs of 180+ products, average selling prices near $28 to $29, and the same trending formats: collagen multi balm sticks, kojic acid and turmeric body care, and multi-step anti-aging sets. Many of the same creators sell for both. This comparison covers January 1 to October 21, 2026.

The Headline Numbers

Jan 2026 Peak Sep 2026 (last full month) Change (Jan to Sep)

Dr.Melaxin $15.79M GMV $15.79M (Jan) $9.54M -40%, decline

Dr. Melaxin opened the year ahead by $3.3M. Medicube caught up in February ($14.56M vs. $14.84M), passed Dr.Melaxin in March, and widened the gap through the summer. By June, Medicube was doing 1.9x Dr.Melaxin's monthly GMV.

In October so far (Oct 1 to 21), Medicube has done $18.94M vs. Dr.Melaxin's $7.34M, a 2.6x gap. Dr.Melaxin peaked in January and declined in six of the eight full months since.

Creator & Affiliate Depth

Both rosters roughly doubled. Medicube went from 21,281 creators with sales in January to 44,489 in September (2.1x). Dr.Melaxin went from 15,786 to 35,214 (2.2x). Roster growth alone doesn't explain the gap; what those creators produced does.

Medicube's top 10 videos of the year generated $6.73M combined, from 9 different creators with follower counts from 13.7K to 722K. Dr.Melaxin's top 10 generated $4.15M from only 6 creators, with follower counts from 31K to 285K.

The sharpest reach-vs-revenue contrast: @queengambin, a 50+ beauty creator with 13.7K followers, drove $704K for Medicube with one video about the PDRN Salmon DNA duo. @juliesbeautybyreview, with 722K followers, drove $601K. Dr.Melaxin shows the same pattern: @inkedgemini3 (31K followers) drove $504K, more than @dazeemaee (285K followers) at $452K.

Dr.Melaxin depends more on single creators. @kajsa.ziebell holds 4 of its top 10 videos, all for the Gifted Collagen Boost Set, worth $1.47M combined. Several creators appear in both brands' top lists, including @thestephedition (NurseHaus), @cakedfinds and @luckylynndee, whose Calcium Eye Cream video is Dr.Melaxin's best of the year at $517K.

With affiliate commission caps tightening on beauty, these shared creators will choose their brands more carefully.

Product-Level Data

Dr.Melaxin grew its catalog faster: 113 to 183 active products from January to September (1.6x), vs. Medicube's 146 to 187 (1.3x). Average selling price moved in the same direction for both. Medicube went from $40.67 in January to $28.72 in September, and Dr.Melaxin from $34.90 to $25.30.

The two brands go head to head on three trends. In kojic acid and turmeric body care, Medicube's Smooth & Clear Body Care Set did $6.45M in the last 30 days, 4.4x Dr.Melaxin's Peel Shot spray ($1.48M). In multi balm sticks they are close: Dr.Melaxin's Calcium Multi Balm did $730K vs. Medicube's PDRN Multi Balm at $800K. In anti-aging sets, Dr.Melaxin is ahead: its $57 Gifted Collagen Boost Set did $1.21M (up 12%), while Medicube's $79 Gatekeeping set did $1.02M (down 28%).

Content Cadence

Medicube grew monthly video output from 72,348 in January to 158,974 in September (2.2x). Dr.Melaxin grew from 57,475 to 91,303 (1.6x).

Revenue per video fell for both brands as volume rose. It fell much further for Dr.Melaxin. In January, Dr.Melaxin earned $265 in GMV per video vs. Medicube's $165. By September, Dr.Melaxin was at $105 and Medicube at $113.

Dr.Melaxin added 59% more videos but lost 40% of its GMV. Medicube added 120% more videos and grew GMV 45%.

Why This Happened

Medicube found a new viral hero almost every quarter: the PDRN Multi Balm in spring, the Gatekeeping set in early summer, and the Smooth & Clear Body Care Set this fall. It then backed each one with more creators and more videos.

Dr.Melaxin's growth stayed tied to the Gifted Collagen Boost Set and a few repeat creators, and its newer videos earned less each month. Dr.Melaxin still has real strengths: a $57 bundle that is beating Medicube's pricier set, a top-selling eye cream with no direct Medicube rival, and a fast-growing body spray (+101% in the last 30 days).

What This Means If You Sell on TikTok Shop

  1. Plan for the next hero product before the current one fades. Medicube rotated from multi balm to bundles to body care and kept growing. Dr.Melaxin's January peak was its high point for the year.
  2. Content volume only works if each video still earns. Dr.Melaxin added 59% more videos and its revenue per video fell 61%. Track revenue per video every month, not just total output.
  3. Follower count is a weak predictor of revenue. The best videos for both brands came from creators with 13.7K to 122K followers, beating creators with up to 50 times the audience.
  4. Bundle price matters above $50. Dr.Melaxin's $57 set grew while Medicube's $79 set lost a third of its units. Test a lower-priced entry bundle before the holidays.

Data: beBOLD® Social Intelligence (TikTok Shop US), January 1 to October 21, 2026. Monthly figures are calendar months; October is partial. Medicube's October and YTD figures exclude a pre-launch placeholder listing (a new sunscreen stick temporarily priced at $896.20), revalued at its $17 launch price. Dr.Melaxin shows near-zero sales on Sep 30 and Oct 1, likely a tracking gap. Top videos are ranked by attributed revenue for videos posted in the window. Explore beBOLD's full marketplace services.
